No Family Should Go Hungry

Every day, we rescue food and deliver it to those who need it most. Join us in fighting food waste and hunger

We rise by lifting one another

Food Link Society improves access to healthy food for over 107,000 individuals yearly at more than 25 locations across 11 cities in Metro Vancouver district. Your one-time or monthly donation helps recover and redistribute over 2 million lbs of food annually.

OUR MISSION

To lead the way in food recovery by rescuing surplus food, distributing it to those in need, and advocating for sustainable solutions that eliminate food waste and hunger, thus enhancing food security for vulnerable populations. Our goal for the next two years is to establish 'Food Security Through Zero Food Waste' as a pilot project in Coquitlam, promoting sustainable urban food systems and ensuring access to nutritious meals for our community.
Everyone deserves the dignity of a full plate

We turn rescued food into opportunity — nourishing families, seniors, newcomers, and others facing barriers to healthy meals. By putting good food back into our community, we help reduce hardship and promote well-being across the Lower Mainland.

PREVENT FOOD WASTE

Every meal saved is a resource preserved — for both people and the planet. At Food Link Society, we rescue surplus food from grocery stores and deliver it the same day to those who need it most. By keeping good food out of landfills, we reduce environmental harm and ensure every edible item finds a purpose.

REDUCE CARBON FOOTPRINT

Every pound of food rescued helps keep methane out of landfills and carbon out of the air. Thanks to our same-day food recovery system, Food Link Society has prevented 5.41 million pounds of CO_ -equivalent emissions, reducing pollution and protecting our planet with every delivery.

CREATE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteering isn’t just about giving back. It’s about belonging. At Food Link Society, our volunteer program connects people through purpose. Whether you’re a newcomer looking to gain experience or a local wanting to make an impact, we provide opportunities to contribute meaningfully. Volunteers support food sorting, delivery, and community engagement, building stronger, more connected communities while reducing food waste and food insecurity.

WHO WE ARE

In 2016, Immigrant Link Centre Society (ILCS) began as a non-profit focused on food assistance. Today, we’ve transformed into a charity dedicated to aiding low-income families and new immigrants in our community. With volunteers from four continents and 15 countries, united in Canada, our mission is clear: reduce food waste, safeguard the environment, and support  economically disadvantaged individuals and newcomers . By conserving resources and ensuring access to nutritious food, we strive to enhance the lives of those in need

OUR STORY

Our story begins with a small group of immigrants who gathered to watch a documentary about food waste during an English as a Second Language (ESL) training program at Vanier Centre in Coquitlam.

Inside that program, a group of us formed the idea for a free food project called “Win Win”. We gathered unsold food from grocery stores with the goal to stop good edible food from entering landfills.

Once we started, we were amazed how much edible and nutritious food we could supply students inside the program for free.Today, we are focused on serving individuals facing financial challenges, including low-income families, immigrants and refugees in their first year, and seniors.

We believe that no one should struggle to obtain the necessities of life. Help us end the struggle.
