Food Link Society is incredibly grateful for the generous support of Windset Farms and Farmers Fresh. Together, these donations included 2,204 lbs of
fresh bell peppers from Windset Farms, 2,250 lbs of brown jumbo mushrooms from Farmers Fresh, and approximately 8,800 lbs of fresh cucumbers, providing
more than 12,800 lbs of nutritious produce to help support individuals and families across our community. These contributions not only improve access to
healthy food but also help reduce food waste and strengthen local food security. Together, we are creating a healthier, more sustainable future for everyone.

Food Link Society extends its heartfelt thanks to FreshCo and the Strawberry Hill Chalo team for their generous $4,000 donation through the Community Action Fund. This valuable support helps us provide fresh, nutritious food to children, youth, and families in our community while reducing food waste. This month, we are proud to recognize one of our dedicated volunteers. After a long career in her profession, she joined Food Link to give back to her community. Volunteering became especially meaningful after overcoming breast cancer, helping her stay active, connected, and focused on making a difference. Together with her husband, she supports local families by helping distribute rescued food and creating a welcoming space where community members can connect and support one another. Her compassion, resilience, and commitment inspire us all. Thank you for being such a valued volunteer of the Food Link family.
Appreciate Kirstin Lintott
We are proud to recognize Kirstin Lintott this month for her dedication and contributions as a volunteer. A retired teacher, Kirstin joined Food Link after learning about our program while working as a substitute teacher. Inspired by our mission to support families and reduce food waste, she has been volunteering with us for more than two years. Kirstin’s kindness, reliability, and positive attitude make a meaningful difference in our community. We are grateful for her ongoing support and proud to have her as part of the Food Link family.
Global Students, Local Impact
On June 10, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of students from the University of Hong Kong to one of the food distribution hubs of Food Link Society.
Their enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to give back to the community made a meaningful impact on our operations. We were delighted to have these young volunteers working alongside our team, helping us further our mission of reducing food waste and supporting community members in need. After their volunteer shift, we had the opportunity to thank and host them at Soul Bite Community Kitchen, where we enjoyed great conversations about community engagement, volunteerism, and the positive difference that collective action can make. A sincere thank you to all the students for sharing their time, energy, and commitment with us.

Food Link Society is honoured to have been recognized at the 2026 Environmental Achievement Awards and Volunteer Celebration hosted by the City of
Coquitlam. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to reducing food waste by rescuing surplus food from local grocery stores and redistributing it to
individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. By keeping nutritious food in our communities and out of landfills, we help reduce greenhouse gas emissions while supporting those who need it most. We extend our sincere gratitude to the City of Coquitlam, Mayor Richard Stewart, City Councillors, our dedicated volunteers, partners, donors, and supporters who make this work possible. Driving Change Together: Food Link Society at APNA Truck Show 2026
The APNA Truck Show 2026 was a great success for Food Link Society!
This year, we participated with two separate booths. Inside the exhibition hall, our team focused on raising awareness about food recovery, recruiting volunteer drivers, and building relationships with trucking companies, warehouses, and businesses interested in donating surplus food. Outside, we hosted a community engagement booth featuring games and prizes, which helped us connect with attendees while raising donations to support our programs.
Over the course of the event, we established valuable new contacts, welcomed new volunteers to our mission, and raised funds that will help us continue rescuing surplus food and supporting individuals and families across the Lower Mainland.
Most importantly, the show provided an excellent opportunity to showcase how the trucking industry can play a vital role in reducing food waste and strengthening communities. We are grateful to everyone who stopped by our booths, learned about our work, donated, volunteered, or shared ideas for future collaboration.
